Best time to visit Panna National Park

Panna National Park is located in Chatarpur and Panna district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. The park is spread over 542 square kilometer area and it is the 22nd tiger reserve of the country. The Panna National park was recognized as the best-maintained park in 2007 by the tourism department of India. In 2009, the tiger population in the park was washed out by poaching. Later, measures were taken to increase the tiger population in the park. The park is located in a spot where the tropical and subtropical forest belts are found. It starts from Cape Comorin, Tamil Nadu to Gangetic plains. River Ken runs through this relatively dry national park providing water to the wildlife throughout the year. Many rare species and endangered species can be spotted in this park. There are six species of vulture found in this park. Renah falls inside the park is an important tourist attraction. The waterfall is best during early winter. Paradise flycatcher is very commonly found in this region. Ken Area is the best for watching all types of animals including bird watching and also for the Panna wildlife Photography.

November to May is the best time for the Panna tourism. If you are ready to tackle the hot tropical climate, visit between March and May. If you want to experience a mild climate and a lot of birds, visit between November and January. Summers in this town are excruciatingly hot and the temperatures rise up to about 45 degrees Celsius, which is not very favorable for a pleasant vacation. Winters are comparatively cooler and more pleasant. It is especially recommended to visit this place during the month of March because that is when you would get to watch the umpteen numbers of species that the Panna National Park boasts of.

Summer is very hot and dehydrating in the park. The park generally has a very dry climate and during summer, it will be excessively hot and unpleasant. However, it is the best time to spot animals including tigers. Since the hot climate dries up all the small water sources inside the park, all the animals with their cubs visit River Ken every day for quenching their thirst. Thus, boat safari during summer is the best for those who want to spot many animals. Summer temperature can go as high as 45°C.

Winter starts in October and ends in February. November to January is the best time for bird watching as the population of migration birds will be at the peak. If you love to see migratory birds then came at this time. The climate will be mild during the day and the nights are very cold.

The rainfall season changes from year to year. Roughly, rainy season starts in June and ends by September. This is the worst time to visit the park. The animals hard to spot and birds will be resting in tree branches. The sky will be dark to clearly spot any wildlife. The terrain becomes muddy and sticky it makes bicycle tour and walking tour harder. Elephants cannot scale the park. The park is usually closed during rainy season.

Their are various periods considered as best time to visit for wildlife photography. Here wildlife tourism activity can be enjoyed mainly in winters and summers. During monsoon period, Panna Tiger Reserve remains closed for safari activity so this period is often not considered for safari tourism in Central India. Here safari period can be divided in to two parts i.e. from October to January period and from February to May period, although park is open till June month. First period i.e. from October to January is good for wildlife photography as it is good for birds photography, nature photography, visiting waterfalls. Here in Panna national park, 6 vulture species is its unique attraction so this period is the best time to visit for birders. Post January period is considered as summer time which is considered as good for mammals photography. In summer time, majority of tiger photography lovers turn to Central Indian national parks to enjoy tiger photography. It is the best time to visit for Tiger photography.
