How to Reach Panna National Park



INTRODUCTION

In year 1994, it was declared as the 22nd Tiger reserve of India and 5th in Madhya Pradesh. Panna tiger reserve is spread over Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. The connectivity of Panna Tiger Reserve with the other places and the condition of the roads are excellent, hence tourists from either abroad or the country feels this place a worth to visit. Sightseeing of Tigers are not very common in the Park, tourist needs to be patients, getting glimpse of this big wild cat. The vegetation of this region is mixed with uneven terrain with scrubby vegetation and grass, rocky landscape gathered along with hundreds verities of trees and shrubs. One can explore Indian species of crocodiles like mugger and long snout Ghariyal in the Ken River that flows from here toward the north harbors.

Though a popular tourist destination, not many options are available to reach Panna directly. The nearest airport, Khajuraho is 36 km away. The nearest railway stations Satna and Khajuraho are well connected to major cities in the country via regular trains. NH 75 links Panna to nearby cities like Bhopal and major cities like Delhi. The park has two entrance gates for the tourists, one at Madla, it is more popular and has good accessibility from nearby major destinations,other one is at Hinouta. The distance between these two gates is about 40 kms. Panna is also well connected by Indian Railways from across the country. Khajuraho is the nearest Railway station from Panna. It is 37 kms from Panna National Park, which has limited connectivity and Satna, 130 kms from Panna National Park, which is a major railway station and is linked to various places in central and western India. Jhansi located at 180 km away from Panna is also a major station and has very good connectivity. Khajuraho has direct connectivity From Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and Bhopal. If somebody wants to come this park from Ranthambhor. It has direct connectivity from Dayodaya Express from Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer. The road distance between Khajuraho to Satna is 114 km, while the aerial distance from Khajuraho to Satna is 98 km

TRAVELING FROM DELHI

By Train : Tourists can use popular trains like UP Sampark Kranti (2448) leaves Delhi Hazrat Nizammudin railway station at 20:35 PM, reaches Khajuraho 7:50 AM. Further drive from Khajuraho to Panna national park can be done by taxi cabs. Apart from this, tourists have option to take more than 20 trains from Delhi to Jhansi railway station and further journey by tourist cab or bus service.
By Flight:Khajuraho is the nearest airport (40kms) for Panna national park. As if now, their is no non-stop flight from Delhi to Khajurah but 1-stop flight options are available. Air India and Jet Airways are the airlines that operate between New Delhi and Khajuraho. Every week, there are 10 flights from New Delhi to Khajuraho. Of this number, Air India has 3 (alternate days.) and Jet Airways has 7 (all days in a week).
By Road:Travel distance from Delhi to Khajuraho is approx. 650kms which is a long distance so usually direct drive is avoided but is special cases like flight cancellation, train delays, tourists have undertaken this journey. They sometimes take journey break at Gwalior. Route from New Delhi (NH2) - Faridabad - Mathura - Agra - Morena - Datia - Jhansi - Chatatrpur - Panna Tiger Reserve.

TRAVELING FROM MUMBAI

As Mumbai is a popular metropolitan city with Inter-national airport, due to which, many inter-national tourists, reaches Mumbai first as their arrival to India begin their tour from here. Let us check how to reach Panna national park from Mumbai.
By Train : Satna (70km) is the best suitable railway station for traveling from Mumbai for visiting Panna national park. Further journey from Satna to Panna national park is possible by tourist cab. If somebody is not interested in this long drive, they may need to undertake in-direct flight connection like Mumbai - Delhi - Varanasi - Khajuraho. Further journey from Khajurah to Panna national park by taxi vehicle.
By Road:Distance between Mumbai to Panna National Park is 1140 km by road option. It is a long distance and will rarely be used by any visitor.

TRAVELING FROM VARANASI

Varanasi is another must visit tourist destination during India tour. It is best clubbed with Khajuraho & Panna national park. Tourists either visit Varanasi before of after Khajuraho - Panna tour. It is about 400kms north-east of Khajuraho. Lets check how to reach Panna national park for Varanasi.

The different trains that you can find for Varanasi to Satna are Varanasi Junction Lokmanyatilak Terminus Superfast Express, Mahanagari Express, Kamayani Express, Varanasi Junction Lokmanyatilak Terminus Superfast Express, Gyan Ganga Superfast etc. Muzaffarpur Junction Lokmanyatilak Terminus Special with train no 01058 is the first train that departs from Varanasi at 00:30 AM. Whereas Darbhanga Junction Lokmanyatilak Terminus Express has train no. 11066 is the last train that departs from Varanasi at 22:58 PM. There is/are 30 direct train(s) from Varanasi to Satna. These train(s) is/are Bsb Ltt Sup Exp (12168), Tapti Ganga Exp (19046), Sarnath Express (15159), Bl Shramik Exp (19052), Bsb Ltt Sup Exp (12166) etc.
By Flight:In order to travel from Varanasi to Khajuraho, flight option is the best time saving way. Their is direct flight connectivity from Varanasi to Khajuraho and further journey is possible by taxi service.
By Road: Panna national par is approx. 400kms south-west of Varanasi. Travel route comes via Allahabad - Mirzapur - Rewa. It is possible to undertake road journey from Varanasi to Panna national park.

TRAVELING FROM AGRA

As we know that Agra is a most popular tourist destination of India so it is important to know how to reach Panna national park from Agra. Panna national park lies in south of Agra and connected by road.
By Train : For traveling by train from Agra to Panna national park, we have three important railway stations i.e. Khajuraho, Jhansi station and Satna station. Here Satna is the nearby station for reaching Panna. There are 7 weekly trains from Agra to Satna. The different trains that you can find for Agra to Satna are Mahakoshal Express, etc. Mahakoshal Express with train no 12190 is the first train that departs from Agra at 19:03 PM.
By Flight: At present Agra airpot has negligible flight connectivity so best way is to reach Delhi airport and take one-stop flight from Delhi to Khajurho airport. Further journey can easily be done by taxi vehicle.
By Road: Agra to Panna national park distance is approx. 430kms and route comes via Gwalior - Datia -Jhansi - Mauranipur - Panna.

TRAVELING FROM MATHURA

By Road:Their is road connectivity from Mathura to Panna national park. This route comes via Agra - Gwalior - Jhansi. This travel distance will be of 480kms.

TRAVELING FROM GWALIOR

Panna national park lies in 300kms South-East of Gwalior and road connectivity is very good.
By Train : There are 7 weekly trains from Agra to Satna. The different trains that you can find for Agra to Satna are Mahakoshal Express, etc. Mahakoshal Express with train no 12190 is the first train that departs from Agra at 19:03 PM.
By Flight: As if now, their is not flight connectivity from Gwalior to near by Khajuraho Airport so this option is ruled out for now.
By Road: Travel distance from Gwalior to Panna national park is 300kms and road connected is very good. Most of the tourists prefers to travel by road from Gwalior to Panna national park.

TRAVELING FROM BANDHAVGARH

Panna national park lies in 210kms North-West of Bandhavgarh. It is very well connected by road. All the tourists traveling from Bandhavgarh to Panna national park, uses road journey to cover the distance. Their are 3 different travel routes in between them. One route goes Bandhavgarh - Barhi - Katni - Powai - Amanganj - Panna National Park. Second way is via Barhi - Maihar - Uchehra and third way is via Barhi - Maihar - Satna -Nagod.
